Individuals and Societies Teacher

We are looking for an Individuals and Societies Subject Teacher for an International School based in Xian. This is a full-time position starting from August 2023.

The role assumes professional responsibility for facilitating learning for a diverse student population in the MYP. The DP higher level Individuals and Societies classes require a teacher with rich experience and deep understanding and passion for the subject. For the MYP Individuals and Societies Teacher classes, an ability to reach mixed ability learners is essential. The teacher will need to use a range of methods and skills to teach IB Individuals and Societies. There is a supportive and positive climate across the secondary school and all teachers are required to maintain this atmosphere in classes. The successful candidate should be an adaptable and inspiring educator, with the ability to deliver a coherent, balanced, integrated program

Job responsibilities

• Teach Individuals and Societies courses to middle school students
• Provided differentiated instruction to reach all learners
• Work independently and collaboratively to design and refine curriculum with team members in the department and inter-disciplinary units with other department members
• Monitor ongoing progress and report through ATL progress reports, report cards and 3-way conferences to students and parents
• Work with the pastoral teams, meet with parents to maintain links between home and school
• Take an active role in the wider curriculum, participating in extra-curricular activities and Week Without Walls trips
• Maintain records of student work and progress through Secondary Learning Profiles

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above.
• At least 2 years related teaching experiences or above
• Current teaching certification
• A good understanding of the IB MYP and DP Science curriculum
• Excellent English communication skills
• Positive work attitude and passion on teaching.
