High School English Teacher

We are looking for an English (EAL) Teacher for a High School in Shanghai. This is a full-time position to start as soon as possible or with the upcoming academic year in February 2023.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) is the VCE English subject designed to develop the skills of students for whom English is not a first language, this kind of subject may be referred to as ESL or EFL or ESOL. 

About the school

The School teaches the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The school started to offer this program back in 2012 and by 2017 they developed into the most academically successful VCE Program in China. Most of the VCE program graduates proceed directly to prestigious Australian universities such as The University of Melbourne while others choose to study in the UK, Canada or the US.

Entry into the VCE Program is highly selective and monitored and supported by the Pudong Education Bureau. The intake each year is restricted to no greater than 25 students meaning that class sizes are relatively small.

About the VCE program

The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is a granted after 2 years of successful study, years 11 and 12. Assessment for year 11 subjects is entirely internal while external examinations are undertaken in year 12. The assessment at year 12 comprises internal coursework assessment in addition to the examinations.

Qualification

• A Bachelor Degree and above in Education
• At least 5 years’ experience in teaching English as second language or its equivalent
• Teaching license preferred
• Eligible for the English teaching work visa
• Previous overseas experience
• Experience in teaching IELTS preferred

Salary and benefits

• Monthly salary of 30,000 to 35,000 RMB after tax
