English Teacher

We are looking for an English Teacher for an International School based in Tongxiang, Zhejiang province. This position is available from the upcoming 2026/27 academic year in August 2026.

About the school

This is a modern, bilingual international school in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, serving local and expatriate students from early years through upper secondary within a safe, well-resourced campus environment. Located approximately 1.5 hours’ drive (about 120 km) from central Shanghai. As part of a wider international education network, it blends Eastern and Western educational philosophies, offering small class sizes, a strong focus on whole-child development and character, and a curriculum that prepares students for further study in leading universities worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging EAL lessons that develop secondary students’ academic English in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• Support students in accessing subject content (e.g. English, Humanities, Science, Mathematics) by explicitly teaching key vocabulary, structures and text types.
• Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the needs of EAL learners at different proficiency levels, including newly arrived and more advanced students.
• Collaborate closely with subject teachers to embed language objectives into their units, co-plan and, where appropriate, co-teach lessons.
• Use a range of EAL strategies (e.g. scaffolding, modelling, guided writing, structured discussion, graphic organisers) to build language and content understanding.
• Regularly assess students’ English proficiency, track progress using school frameworks, and adjust learning plans or groupings accordingly
• Provide targeted small-group or one-to-one support for students preparing for internal assessments and external examinations.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to take risks in using English and become more independent learners.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about students’ language development and ways to support English at home.
• Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to whole-school initiatives that strengthen EAL provision in the secondary school.

Qualifications

• Holder of Bachelor Degree and teaching certificate or license, with recognized qualification 
• Minimum 2 years of full-time teaching experience
• Previous experience of working with a primary school student and/or implementation of inquiry-based learning approach is a plus

Salary and benefits

• Monthly salary of 25,000 to 35,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualification
