We are looking for a Director of Athletics for an international high school in Shanghai. This position is available from the upcoming 2026–27 academic year in February 2026.

Job responsibilities
- Design, lead, and oversee a comprehensive athletics program for the whole school, aligned with the school’s mission and values
- Recruit, support, and supervise coaches; provide guidance and feedback to ensure high-quality coaching and positive student experiences
- Plan and coordinate inter-school competitions, leagues, and tournaments; represent the school in local, regional, and international athletic associations
- Develop, publish, and manage practice and competition schedules for all school teams
- Ensure student safety and risk management for all on-campus and off-campus athletic activities, in line with school policies and protocols
- Oversee the maintenance, usage, and development of athletic facilities, ensuring equipment is safe, fit for purpose, and properly stored
- Manage the athletics budget, including purchasing, maintenance, and event-related expenses
- Collaborate closely with the Student Affairs Office, academic leadership, and co-curricular teams to integrate athletics into wider school life
- Promote the wellbeing of student-athletes, encouraging sportsmanship, leadership, and a healthy balance between academic commitments and athletic participation
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field
- Strong experience in school or youth athletics (team or programme leadership preferred)
- Proven ability to organise sports teams, schedules, and events
- Confident communicator who can work well with students, parents, coaches, and school leader
